The history of Turquoise Jewelry in America dates back to the ancient Pueblo peoples in the American Southwest. Silver was combined with Turquoise by the Navajo in the late 1800’s beginning the creation of Sterling Silver Turquoise Jewelry. The Navajo believe Turquoise represented peace and spiritual clarity while the Apache believe Turquoise improves accuracy for hunters.
