Turquoise is an opaque, blue-to-green mineral valued as a gemstone for millennia. Turquoise is renowned for its robin's egg blue to greenish-blue hues and often has brown or black, spiderweb-like matrix veins from its host rock. Turquoise is sacred to Native American tribes in the southwestern US and is a ceremonial gem and a medium of exchange. Animals are used extensively in Turquoise Jewelry including coyotes, bears, horses and hummingbirds.
