This Chunky Turquoise necklace is strung with beautifully matrixed genuine large to medium Turquoise nuggets and sterling plated accessories. The Turquoise nugget at the bottom measures 7/8” by 3/8” and the Turquoise nuggets at the top average ¾” by 7/16”. The Turquoise nugget necklace measures 20” in length with a lobster clasp and a 7/16” diameter O-ring for easy clasping. All Turquoise necklaces are one-of-a-kind and hand-made in Cave Creek, Arizona in the desert foothills of northern Phoenix using stones from throughout the world.

Turquoise jewelry has a long history dating back thousands of years. The name turquoise stems from the French word pierre tourques meaning Turkish stone as turquoise was traded to Europe from Persia through present day Turkey. While turquoise was used for centuries by the ancient Pueblo peoples, the silver-and-turquoise jewelry style that we know was developed by Navajo artists in the late 1800’s. Pueblo and Navajo artists continue to use turquoise in traditional and modern turquoise jewelry.
