The history of Turquoise Jewelry in America dates back to the Hohokam and ancient Pueblo peoples in Arizona and New Mexico. Silver was combined with Turquoise by the Navajo in the late 1800’s beginning the creation of Sterling Silver Turquoise Jewelry. The Apache believed Turquoise improved accuracy for hunters while the Navajo believed Turquoise represented peace and spiritual clarity.
