This Turquoise pendant is solid sterling silver and inlaid with genuine Turquoise, Sugalite, Lapis, Spiny Oyster Shell and Cultured Opal. This Turquoise pendant measures 1 and 1/4" long from the top of the bale to the bottom of the pendant and includes an 18” sterling plated chain.
Persians extensively wore turquoise jewelry. They believed turquoise offered protection by changing color to warn of pending doom. The turquoise jewelry associated with Native Americans today began in the 1880s, when a trader convinced a Navajo craftsman to craft silver coins into turquoise jewelry.
